Camera Fun

Late one night last week, I got the Canon EOS Rebel T3i (that’s a mouthful) out and had some fun.

Down the hill to the north of the house live Jerry and Charlotte on the corner of Jericho Road and Jericho Street (it still baffles me that someone would name two roads that intersect the same). Thanksgiving weekend, we saw a pickup pull up next to the large pine on the south corner of their lot. Then we saw a ladder on top of the bed – they were stringing the tree, which is 25-30 feet tall, with lights.

The tree was lit for a few nights, but then went dark. Coming back from one of our morning walks, Jerry was out scraping ice off his car. He told us they used to string lights on the big tree for years, but had stopped about 10 years ago. Charlotte told him she wanted lights this year. So why weren’t they on? He figured he had too many strings attached together.

About a week later, while Peg was travelling, I noticed the lights were back. Around midnight, I pulled out the camera and popped the 75-300mm zoom on it. I must have been having fun – I took over 65 shots.

Here are ones I think are the “best”. Only one needs any explanation – I saw a car coming down Jericho Street and timed my shot to get its headlights. That’s “Tree 5”
